Eimear Rutherford – Postdoctoral Research Associate
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Lloyd Lab, where my research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving airway remodelling in chronic lung disease.
I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge, where I developed advanced human lung model systems to investigate respiratory biology in health and disease. My expertise lies in organoid biology, including the development of both adult- and fetal lung-derived organoid models, alongside the application of CRISPR-based gene editing to generate patient-specific disease models.
My current work combines multi-omic approaches with co-culture systems to dissect how epithelial, stromal, and immune cell interactions shape inflammatory and remodelling responses within the airway wall.
